i really hate asking a question on here. I am not a high school drop out and yes i take really good care of my children.
this is the first time my son ever did something like this.
I was watching my children and trying to cook dinner for the at the same time.
i am human can only do so many things at once.

Don't listen to all the rude answers, kids will be kids! They will get into anything and everything no matter how good of parents they are. The fact that you knew he swallowed the pennys shows how much you pay attention and how much you care! Just think of how many parents with kids wouldn't even have noticed. Your son should be fine, they will pass through his digestive tract and into his bm. You could try checking his bm to make sure they come through, but I've known this to happen to a friends kid and he was alright. Good luck, and remember, your a GOOD mom!

First of all these things can happen in an instant even if you are watching your kids constantly. My daughter gets into something in a matter of seconds. Don't be too hard on yourself. Since you already called the Dr I would just wait the 24 hours and he should pass it when he has a bowel movement. If it does seem like he is in intense pain then I would either call your dr again or call the hospital or just take him in. I swallowed quarters when I was little and my mom said I was fine in a couple of days. Good Luck.

Ive found that alot of people on here are really insenstive and only post things for the points.
I once swallowed a token from Peter Piper Pizza. My mom freaked out and my aunt took me to the ER, The doctor said that it happens all the time and it will pass. Since his stomach has started hurting I would take him to the ER. It might just be indigestion. But to be safe take him to the ER.

As long as they are not logged in his throat then his body should dispose of them on it's own, you can help him along by feeding him broccoli covered in cheddar cheese (that should speed up the process). What was your 2 year old doing with something that he could swallow? This will make a great story during the holidays and can teach your children about being greedy. If he's not fine within 24 hours take him to the doctor.

Gross as it sounds, you need to count the money coming out. I'd take him to the ER to be sure he only swallowed three pennies. Yes, he'll probably be fine, but there is a possibility of coins getting stuck.
As for the folks who think you were doing something wrong because your son swallowed pennies: clearly they don't have children! My son is two and he can do amazing things in a split second. Don't listen to them - listen to your instincts that made you ask this question and take your little one to the ER to ease your worries.

I used to do that all the time when I was little. It will pass in 24 hours, if not then I would take him to the er.

your doctor office said he would be ok. but money is afully dirty so if he starts to complain and really hurts him go to the ER and say "look my son swallowed some pennies do i really need to worry or will he be fine" he might feel funny but good luck !!!!!

his belly will hurt yes,but he will pass it, because of the size of a Penny the body thinks it is food, he will be fine. you are a good parent to realize this one. don't listen to those rude remarks, they don't know and they want points!good luck!!

don't worry. He'll be fine. He'll poop it out. Not to be funny. I'm serious. My cousin put a penny in his mouth, just to play around with it. He accidentaly swollowed it and it came out the next day.
Don't panic, but have a talk with him about eating pennies.
