I live in Orlando. Theres plenty of nice things to do there. Good resturants, nice places to walk, plenty of bike trails.Also there are theme parks (even though you said besides, im putting it on anyway)

Animal Kingdom

Orlando Science Center

Depending on where in Orlando your parents are moving too, it is about 115miles which is about 1hr and 45min on a good day once again depending on where they are moving too and traffic. I'm not trying to be rude by saying this, so I apologize if it comes out wrong but UF is an extremely hard University to get into with the individual schools being even harder. It is also quite expensive and this is coming from a FL resident. Good Luck!

Take a tour of the Daytona Racetrack (very cheap, but about an hour drive), nice light houses in Daytona too. Winery just North of Orlando (20 minute drive) could be romantic...Lakeridge Winery in Clermont, also several good comedy places (real good one downtow, cannot think of the name of it, right on South St. Good restaurants...they are everywhere...just drive down International Drive.
