Too many people just dont understand the science behind the Big Bang theory yet keep on harping against it. The most fundamental thing about the big bang is this: It is not THE cause of everything. But people, those who pretend to know science treat it like it is! Like the theory was a model to deny the existence of God. The Big Bang IS a model---an explanation---of HOW(not WHY) the universe could've evolved. It is THE logical conclusion pointed to by all scientific observations.

God is not part of any scientific endeavor. So there is really no antagonism between scientific facts and belief in a creator. Science doesn't even care if there was God or not, or if He made the universe or not. It only answers HOW the universe got like this as we observe it today. So as parrot have said, we can always say God caused the Big Bang. No point in pitting God and science. Which piece of scientific breakthrough has been made even remotely possible because of religion? When has science started making conclusions without observations?

Until we started splitting atoms using religious doctrines or science started making physical theories without observation, we can't pit those two.

Let's just put those two in there proper fields. If we can't, we're only showing our ignorance.

I do, but I'll tell you why many don't.

1) The poverty of scientific skills and reasoning in the average person is amazing. (just ask the average person to define entropy or statistical.)

2) Anything that contradicts a person's faith based thinking causes emotional distress. People tend to avoid pain at all costs. The easiest way is blanket denial.

3) There is a vast amount of misinformation in our world that people are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN OF.

4) Some people don't like/trust science.

There is a great line spoken by Tommy Lee Jones in the movie Men In Black. He says, "fifteen hundred years ago everyone KNEW the earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everyone KNEW the earth was flat, and two minutes ago, you KNEW you were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."

It may take a hundred years, it may take a thousand, but someday humans will discover how the universe really began, and when that happens, the story of Genesis, just like all the other incorrect beliefs humans have held, will be replaced by facts.

The Big Bang actually works on the side of theists, and against naturalistic explanations of the origins of life. Since scientists overwhelmingly know that time, space, matter, etc originated from the Big Bang, the next logical question is what caused the Big Bang if there wasn't any time or matter beforehand to cause it. Thus if there is a greater being, who transcends time (is eternal) and is not made of physical materials (a spirit) then you can conclude that some Supreme Being, or God, initiated the beginning of time, space, and life itself.

Because it is a world of such order, if I put all the pieces of a wrist watch into a box and shook the box what are the chances of opening the box and the watch being together in perfect working order??? Our universe is far more complex than any watch and yet what would be the possibility of the big bang theory being possible??? It doesn't make any sense to me. Also everything made has a designer and creator, it makes sense to me that the solar system does too.

1. It is stupid. Show me how you can create anything with an explosion, and have what was left over actually be something worthwhile.
2. Intelligent design makes a whole lot more sense and takes a whole lot less faith.
3. The big bang theory is comparable to scattering aircraft parts across the desert and having a sand storm come through, and when it was all over you would find a fully functioning flight worthy 747 in the aftermath.
Now what are the odds of that happening?

Gen.1:1,2 All exist and it is evident of billions of years in time, and the seven days are not a big bang, but earth in preparation ends Rev.20:1-6; at 49,000 years and the last 7000 is only man in world as Lost to man Saved.

I do believe in the big bang, Genesis 1: 1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.-- This means he created the heavens first, then by his holy spirit, {active force, power} he created the bodies in the heavens. This does fit with the big bang theory. Scientists' have pretty much proved the the universe was created by a big bang.

I do. Some people don't because they didn't bother to see that there's evidence for it, or would rather ignore the fact that we have physical laws and it's not all 'chance', or some people would just rather think that they are special.

Edit: Really, Andrew? Because as an astrophysicist, I've yet to hear it. Please, enlighten those of us who have spent a lifetime studying the universe.

Edit again: Thanks for posting that, Destiny. Yes, there are some challengs to the current age of the universe as derived from WMAP, but so far they all still support a multi-billion year old universe, and most don't deny that it must have started somewhere - they just argue about when. The models by Geller and Hucra still need more evidence before they will be widely accepted in the astronomical community.

Because I believe that we were created by a supreme Creator -- as was the world -- and didn't suddenly evolve from a big bang.
