It is illegal. Will they call the cops? Most won't. Especially, if you're like "forgot it at home, sorry." Some places are anal about allowing you inside without checking your ID, but most don't care. But I don't know about where you live but in my hometown, sometimes cops would be there to bust underagers.

Yes, it's illegal to try to purchase alcohol if underage, the store can get in legal trouble if caught selling to minors. Don't know what would happen to you but the store could lose there selling alcohol license.

No, it's not illegal to buy alcohol if you're underage. The same goes for cigarettes. But definitely the store owner or the seller is liable if he sold it to a minor .

Yes, it is illegal. That's why there are AGE RESTRICTIONS.
If you get caught attempting to buy, then you can be charged. If you are successful in the purchase, and the store subsequently gets charged, then you BOTH get charged.
Don't try it. It's a NO -WIN for everyone involved.

The age limits that are set ARE in fact laws- so there for yes if you are underage it is a crime to try to break the law. Just as it is a crime to try to kill someone.
