As a nurse, the answer is no. Depending where and how long you work, you may have a great benefit and retirement package, but nothing you get is free. It's EARNED.

It is generally understood, at least by the medical people I work with, that we look after each other's health needs....it is called 'professional courtesy'. I have never been charged for any medical procedure by a fellow physician ... but if it were an 'elective' procedure...e.g. a cosmetic procedure....then it would be a different matter.

No. We either get benefits through employers or purchase our own, like everyone else. The only upside is you can sometimes get faster appointments and better care because you know the healthcare workers caring for you.
