I'm going on a very long car ride and I don't know what to paint. (I'm an experienced artist so please don't suggest taking art lessons lol tho I am taking some currently).
So what exactly should I paint? Landscape, still life, etc. Choose a catergory, then please be specific thx for all ur help!

As an art teacher i would choose a theme instead of the usual landscape etc. Think of a theme or emotion to depict - relationships is always a good one especially as you will see lots of different relationships on a car journey - between colours seen together, between people, animals, natural and built environment.
hope thats useful! either way hope you enjoy it.

I am not exactly a perfect artist, but I do know that a fancy picture is not always a good one. If you really want to do something great, you should draw a picture of something you feel deeply about. It is the sybolism in a picture that makes it art. Art is a way to express your deepest emotions (love, hate, fear, depression, etc.). For example, you could paint a self portrait that looks nothing ike you. A self portrait that says what you look like and feel inside(not literally). If you do that, you can put in a portfolio and use that to get into an art college in the future. That is if you are not already in college, and are planning on pursuing a career in visual art.

I can't pick a category, because I dont' know all the categories.
All I could suggest is something specific. How about a view that you might see through a person's window? Like, let's say you live in a high rise, and there is a high rise across the way. You look through the telescope and what do you see? Maybe a gentleman vacuuming naked? Maybe a very sad scene like someone committed suicide by hanging themself from some thing in the cieling, or maybe someone hanging upside down by those special boots? Lots of ideas.

Have you considered applying a philosophical concept? For example perhaps a political view of freedom or religious view of the definition of life. You could then try to apply the concept in a way that can be communicated visually.

use the recipe for a surrealist poem and transfer the idea to painting. cut up an article (word for word) put it all in a box shake it up and draw 3 words let it paint itself through the associations your sub conscious makes. it is so friggin fun and it makes you think in such an odd way

How about an image from a dream that you have one minute before you wake up in the morning. Those can be pretty challenging.

Nothing. Sketch by the thousands and then use them as a library to paint for years to come.
