If an architect has a builder make his design, to whom goes the credit?
If an artist has elements of his art made at his direction, who gets the credit?
Whose idea was it to take the photo? Who directed the shoot? Who is responsible for the creative/intellectual content of the image?
If it's your friend, then he's created the picture. If it's you, then you have created the photo and the credit is yours.
The way to make sure that your work is your work is to use a self timer or just extend your arm with the camera in it to take photos.
Does your friend want credit or is this just a hypothetical?
For what it's worth, I've sent cameras to folks across the country and given them directions as to what I want them to photograph and had them send the camera back to me. The results are fascinating and I consider it my project and they are my photos. I've basically commissioned them.
And, you have commissioned your friend to take your photograph if you are in charge of the shoot.

Credit for the picture goes to the person who snapped the picture. That doesn't mean that you can't tell everybody that he took the picture with your camera. You see? He gets credit for picture taking skill. You get credit for your fine taste in cameras.

Even though the camera is yours, it is your friend who is taking the picture who should get the credit for the shot. They are the ones framing, aiming, and snapping the pic.

The picture credit would go to him unless you were involved in the posing (the director as it were), then he would just be your assistent.

Seriously, consider the following wacko answer. It might be easier understood in relation to the question.
If you give your friend a gun, ask him/her to shoot you dead, he/she does ..... who gets charged with the murder?
