"making you" discover the book, n'est pas bon. Ca signifie que vous étiez forcé de le découvrir. (making you do something in English means that you are forced to do something). Le verbe "faire" a beaucoup de sens quand il est traduit en anglais. Vous pouvez dire " Thank you for "helping me" discover this book. You could say, " Thank you for having shown me this book" or "Thank you for showing me this book".

Thank you for enabling me to discover this book. Or alternatively:
Thank you for introducing me to this book.
The first is more suitable if the person has helped with understanding the book.
The second is appropriate if the other person recommended that you read it or lent it to you.
