Gammon is a very salty meat. Therefore, if you boil it, change the water once. It will add to the cooking time but it will improve the flavour is gammon is just too damn salty. I'm surprised that pigs don't have more heart attacks with all the salt in their systems! Or you could wrap the gammon in tinfoil and bake it in the oven. I would suggest soaking the gammon for an hour or two to remove the salt here, as there is no water to change this time.

I would say just lightly grilled

alternatively try this
Pineapple and gammon kebabs with potato curry

Ingredients
For the potato curry
1 tbsp olive oil
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
½ red pepper, seeds removed and chopped
50g/1¾oz leek, white part only, finely chopped
½ potato, peeled and cut into cubes
1 tbsp medium curry powder
50ml/2fl oz white wine
100ml/3½fl oz double cream
For the gammon kebabs
150g/5½oz gammon, cubed
150g/5½oz fresh pineapple, cubed
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp runny honey
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6.
2. To make the potato curry, heat the olive oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Add the garlic, red pepper and leek and fry for 3-4 minutes, until softened.
3. Add the potato and cook for two minutes.
4. Add the curry powder and cook for another minute.
5. Add the white wine, bring to the boil and cook for one minute to cook off the alcohol.
6. Add the double cream. Heat to a gentle simmer and cook for five minutes, or until the potato has cooked through.
7. To make the kebabs, thread the gammon and pineapple cubes alternately onto two wooden skewers that have been soaked for ten minutes in water.
8. Heat the oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add the kebabs and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, until browned and the gammon is completely cooked through.
9. Drizzle over the honey, remove from the heat and set aside to rest.
10. To serve, pour the curry into a warm bowl and carefully place the kebabs on top.

if its a whole gammon score the top cover in honey and brown sugar and place in a low heated oven for at least 5 hours thats the best i know this because will be doing this christmas eve.. if a gammon slice then yes you could cook under grill like everbody has surgested BUT you could also get a large flatish tin (with sides) place gammon in half fill with water then place in oven so it does 2 jobs in 1 very nice like that... only no this cause i work in school kitchens and thats how we have to do it..
ok good luck..

Give it away or bin it and go and buy some nice lamb chops. There is no good way to cook gammon because it always tastes like pants.

Treat gammon like you would a steak - think if it as a "pork steak". so grill it or chargrill it, nothing fancy just cook it.

The most wonderful ever gammon is Nigella's coca cola recipe. It honestly tastes fantastic, I've never seen anyone not enjoy it.
