My boyfriend and I have been together for about 5 months (we broke up once) but lately things have been different. He is a freshmen in college and I am a senior in highschool. Given what has happened in the past, I want to know if there is something we can do instead of just completely breaking up.

Both of you are commited elsewhere so you need to discuss your relationship before it affects your current studies. Its too early to know more about each other. There is need to genuinely talk it over and agree or disagree.

Well when you say different I'm assuming it means worse. I could be wrong but you should be more specific.

It's natural for both of you to feel different. The transition from high school to college is usually a pretty big one. You finally start to understand that the world is a much bigger place than you thought it was. There are ideas things and people that you've never seen before, and this changes his perspective. Now from your perspective, you're still with him but you haven't gone through that transition. You may not exactly understand why things are different.

The solution is communication. Share your feelings. Ask him how he feels. Talk it out. A little understanding can change a lot. If you think the relationship is taking a turn for the worse communication is even more important. If he isn't treating you the way you think you deserve to be treated, talk to him about it. It isn't easy because you don't know how he's going to react, but look at it this way... If he reacts well, he can understand the way you feel and you two might be able to fix it. If he doesn't react well, you'll know that it's time to end things instead of going with the flow for weeks or months or years in an unhappy place.

Hope something in there helps.
