New York City and avoid traffic cannot be in the same sentence!! LOL Honestly, if you come very late at night (after 12) or very early in the morning (before 6) thats really your best bet.

You'll hit traffic no matter what, but do the Merritt Parkway in southwestern CT (avoid 95 as long as you can). That means West Side highway, to the Hutch, Hutch to Merritt, Merritt up ... Or you could try leaving NY and hitting the northway to upstate NY then peel right outside NH. It all depends where you are headed in NH to know if that is even feasible.

Good luck!

i need to know from where in nyc to where in NH and what time of day before i can give a good answer
there are a lot of ways to do it depending on destination.
For instance going to manchester would mean not only beating nyc traffic but waterbury, hartford , worcester and boston traffic
going to hanover would change things and mean that waterbury, hartford and springfield traffic would have to be beaten
