i found this link to free desktop publishing software, from serif is it any good?

I use pageplus and photoplus all the time - great package! Follow the link below and check out one of my photos I've just done in page plus.

Serif software is excellent, particularly Photoplus and DrawPlus. You can safely download any of their products.

It's excellent software for what it costs. lol.

I'll agree with an earlier respondant, though, you do get quite a few emails from them with regards to software that they're trying to sell you.

Give it a try. I think you'll be surprised just how useful the software really is.

Works ok for me, just use an email address you don't use much when registering..otherwise they mail you every 5 minutes.
Simple (like me) good for a novice, but does the job.

For Photos I use Photofiltre, no layer, but very good for free:

Have a look mate, plenty of add ons.

It depends upon the complexity of your project. I tried it a couple of years ago, and found it to be relatively simple to use. Its "NOT" like Quark, or Pagemaker, though. It lacks in features.
