A Jamaican proverb says, "Before marriage keep both eyes open, after marriage, keep one shut".

This one might be from India (do you know?), "He who cannot dance puts the blame on the floor".

A close neighbor is better than a far brother.

(That's only because in the country this came from, unlike America, people were always friends with their neighbors, never bought a house without knowing the neighbors, and because in that language, the word for neighbhor also means close relationshiply.)

The African saying "Koklo metsoa pu adika soa avu o"
It translates as "The dog does not worry when the chicken runs over to the bones." I have no idea what it means though as I have never been to Africa.
