.......what do you think? I think the person just looked at the title of the song without really listening to the lyrics. It is called "Gods gonna cut you down" by Johnny Cash.
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler,
The gambler,
The back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!"
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler,
The gambler,
The back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's done in the dark will be brought to the light
You can run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Run on for a long time
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler,
The gambler,
The back biter
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down
Tell 'em that God's gonna cut you down

Your friend got it backwards. This song promises sinners that God will punish them.
This verse in particular refers to the singer's faith in Christ, AKA the man from Galilee:
"Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, "John go do My will!" "

oh definitly, too too many times to even say probably almost eveyr song ev ery written by anyone thats in the chart right now and for the last few years (not including the obvious rare breed of talent that pops up then dissapears again sadly) i think anything that talks about telephones, im sure you know what im talking about, is behyond a joke, a whole song dedicated to a telephone or pager is probably the day you know your not on form but , strangely soceity sucks it up if i wrote hey man hows this for lyrics ' i wanna take a ride on your disco stick' id be told to stick that stick where the sun dont shine

I don't think that it is an anti-Christ song. Some Christians are taught not to worry about getting revenge or judging people because God is the true judge, and he will cast those down into the "Lake of Fire" as he sees fit. I think that this song is just about God telling Johnny Cash to do the right thing, and don't worry about the rest of humanity, that everyone gets their just desserts.

I think whoever said that about this song is wrong. Johnny Cash makes several references to bibical scripture in this particular song. It sounds like Johnny is condeming hypocrites... so maybe the person who thought this song is anti-Christ is a hypocrite.

some people are paranoid and are to quick to assume before acquiring the proper information or doing even a little research. there is nothing wrong with the song and johnny cash was a great singer/songwriter.

Johnny Cash did a lot of good Biblical songs, and this looks like another one. As far as I can see, it is perfectly in line with the Bible.

They will slap anything with the "anit-christ" label if it in anyway denounces God or puts him down. There is no anti-christ.
