I think the soul is seated in one particular area in the forehead area, where the "third eye" is said to be. This is the place that is marked by a red dot by Hindus. The reason I believe this, is because if you ask yourself, "am "I" closer to my legs or my nose?" the answer is "my nose." You feel that wherever "you" are, it is closer to your nose. Anyway, if you try to pinpoint where this "you" is, then you find it is somewhere around the area between the eyes, back an inch or so behind them. This is the area of the brain where self-identity is located.

I see the soul as kind of amoebic and in some cases might just surround the remaining body and some cases migh reflect the previous body.

No. Disrupting the general body does not the lighter bodies of spirit. It only affects the denser bodies of the inner being, but that is only a denser shadow reflection of your outer body - it has some affect, but does not disable it.
