24 chicken wings (about 4 pounds)
1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup dry red wine (such as Cabernet Sauvignon)
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Cut off wing tips and halve wings at joint. Arrange wings, skin sides down, in a roasting pan large enough to hold them in one layer.
In a small saucepan heat remaining ingredients over moderately low heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved and pour evenly over wings. Bake wings in middle of oven 45 minutes. Turn wings over and bake until cooking liquid is thick and sticky, about 45 minutes to 1 hour more.

That recipe was published along with one of mine in Gourmet Magazine, I think it was in '96 or 97, but you can go to Epicurious.com (the website for Bon Appetit and Gourmet Magazines) and do a search.......I'm at work, and don't have the recipe within reach, but the wings turn out very dark and sticky, so plenty of damp paper towels are needed to eat them without making a total mess......but they're deliciously addictive......Good luck!!!! Oh, and once you try these, you'll be hooked, as will your friends that you enjoy them with........Enjoy!! Well, well well, I found the recipe for ya...........shows ya how much I get done at work!!!!!

They're just chicken wings, so named because they're covered in a really dark, sticky glaze that looks kinda like tar.
