I've been researching (my dogs' coats are terrible with dandruff) Canidae, Wellness, Innova, and Natural Balance. Natural balance is what I'm leaning towards.

Does anyone have any positive or negative experience with this food?

I have an almost 3 yr. old Lab/Pointer mix and an almost 2 yr. old JRT/Beagle mix.

Thanks!

I tried it on my peke, sorry to say it didnt help with his dry itchy skin. I switched to BLUE, I get it at petsmart, I give him the chicken and brown rice formula.

Have you talked to your vet about the skin/coat issue. My pekes hair wasnt growing real well so we had his thiyiod checked, it was low so we started him on meds. His coat is fine. With all the itching my vet prescribed prednisone for about a week and the itching has stopped too. You may want to see about adding a spoonfull ov oil to his food or giving him a suppliment with an Omega 3 complex.

Good Luck

I have no experience with those foods but my Chi had the flaky skin too. I was and am feeding a quality food (Artemis) but the Chi really needed a supplement. I purchased some liquid Salmon Oil and now I just add a squirt to the dog's food and her coat is gorgeous and no more dandruff.

http://www.artemiscompany.com is a great food! Your dogs might just need that added supplement of oil for the dry winter months like mine did.

I use Wellness, Nutro & Natural Balance. I find all three to be excellent. A bit expensive, but very well worth it.

I have an 8 -1/2 year old Husky mix.

I think all of them are good foods (though my greyhounds unfortunately couldn't tolerate the Wellness). But I think that no matter which food you choose, your dogs also need some veg. oil or a salmon oil capsule added to their food daily. That's going to improve the condition of their skin and coats, particularly in the cold, dry winter climates.

My good friend uses Natural balance for his yellow beagle and it has a great coat and seems to be healthy otherwise.

We use Natural Balance al most exclusively at our local SPCA; for high value treating. I do not see a lot of dandruff on our dogs.
