A lot of it has to do with personal preference. Adults can normally get past less than sweet pineapple, but kids mouths are more sensitive. More so, I would say it has to do with the quality of the pineapple. If its not in season, it won't be as sweet and most pineapples in groceries are not ripe; once picked they won't ripen further either.Truly ripe pineapples are not found in the supermarket because almost all pineapple fruits are harvested at the mature-green stage of maturity.
Pineapple is known for aiding in digestion. It contains a proteolytic enzyme bromelain, which digests food by breaking down protein. Pineapple is a good source of manganese, as well as containing significant amounts of Vitamin C and Vitamin B1.

Fruit is good. Young kids might not like it. My 2 year-ols son LOVES pineapple, but another little 2 year-old at his playgroup yesterday ate a piece and he puckered like he had bitten into a lemon. Some kids might not like the way it makes their mouth tingle.

the only problem with pineapple is if you eat too much you end up with sores in your mouth from the citric acid it contains...so feed the kids with caution!!!
