Hot pants and a tube top. White boots would be great! Don't have white boots, try a pair of Candies' mules (platforms). Put your hair in a ponytail on top of your head...can't do that, got an afro wig...white preferably.

It really depends on the child's age, the child's maturity level, and what the host/hostess says. If it's obviously just for adults, then no, don't bring your kids along because that is being rude as a guest. If the child is old enough (late teens and up), then an adult party is a good way to get them socializing at more adult events. And the child must be mature enough. If they are going to start whining half way through, then they are obviously not ready for an adult party. And you shouldn't worry too much about alcohol. People today make such a big deal about it when it isn't special and definitely isn't fun if you have too much. They make it the forbidden fruit and then wonder why their children are sneaking around drinking as much as possible. Being around alcohol at a holiday party is a good thing. You as a parent can take this chance to show your child how to drink responsibly and how to say no to more or no to driving if you've had too much. Also, if you trust your child, let them have a small cup. Either they'll hate and won't want anymore, be smart and just have the one, or if they love it and drink too much, they'll most likely feel it in the morning.

This is a theme party so the costume is not as central as
comfort. You might want to imitate one of the 54's most
comfortable regulars, Brittney Svenea always wore some
skirt matching with colored tights and laced high heel sneakers.
She carried a book bag with all the lunch for her private table
top party people. Maybe you might like Jean Hayloew shopper
for 54 memberships, she always wore the blouses with the
really see thru sequin styles. A bodyshirt lite blue was her
hallmark undergarment with little 54s and wine buckets on
the empire line. Finally Sandy Dee went with the James Dean
style of jeans dresses all glitter, tops in see thru, and bags
with patchwork suedes, and lots of little pockets.

Watch the Austin Powers film 'Goldmember'.
The disco in there called Studio 69 is a parody of Studio 54.
It will give you some good ideas!

Low cut cocktail dress preferably one solid color like black, red, or any other "bright" color. Add some sparkle with costume jewlry. Very slinky flowing dresses were popular during the studio 54 craze. Make sure you dress to suit your body and personality too, though.

You have to have lots of sparkles-and one of those dresses with the dropped neck-cowl neck, I think. Think Elvira in Scarface.
