we have been dating for about 1 1/2 years. i have been taken advantage of in the past and thus far have refused to be the first to say i love you. i know this sounds juvenile. i do love him and i am pretty sure that he loves me (by his actions). he has not told me yet. should i just bite the bullet and put myself out there? i really think i am still too sensitive to say it and not get the response i was hoping for. thanks

When the time's right to say it, you'll feel it and say it, without even having to think. Relax.

Hey you guys have been together for 1.5 years so yes u can tell him chances are his response will be favourable so no need to worry about it. All of us go through a period of hurt so it's normal for you to feel a bit reluctant. But you love him and that's all that matters. Don't allow past events to rob you of what appears to be a good relationship you have with this guy. Open up to him gradually and let him know how you feel. The success of any relationship is based on communication.

Bite the bullet and tell him. If he does't respond in same, it's a good indication that you should move on. You've already invested 1 1/2 years in this relationship. If he still doesn't love you yet, he ain't going to.

Confront him with the question. Tell him that you both have been dating for a long time and that you think it is time to more one step further. Ask him what he thinks of becoming serious. Tell him that you need some form of security and so are asking this question. You can't exist in a relationship of the thought of love alone. You need to feel it and express it with each other. Tell him to take his time, but answer. And based upon his actions, reactions (or lack thereof), you can decide to tell how you feel about him.

i was in the same situation and voila he said it first. that was like 1.5 months ago. i just said it for the first time this past friday. i was glad he said it first cuz it relieved me of the weirdness/juvenile thing you're feeling now. i say wait until he says it, that way you won't feel vulnerable to rejection. but on the other hand if you believe it and feel it, then do it. it will all come out when it's supposed to. :O) bianca

Hey....i know how you feel, i ve been there too. I always find it hard to say those 3 little words, very hard. When & if i do say it i have to mean it, i dont mess about with those things, especially when it comes from the heart. If you really trust him & you feel it in your heart, then yes go ahead tell him.....good luck!!

Just tell him how you feel. If you are in love you should shout it from the roof tops. If he really feels the same way it wont hurt to say it first. If he doesn't feel the same way you willl know by his reaction. If he doesn't feel that way then maybe the realationship wasn't meant to be. Good luck!!!!!

I guess if you are 15,16, 17 years old or something this doesn't sound wierd. But if you are older and you have been dating for THAT long and don't talk about that stuff yet...it seems a bit strange. I mean, you should know by now how you feel. It isn't that complicated.

Go for it! If you feel like this about him then it's fair for him to know - he may just be too shy to say it first! Chances are he'll say it back and your relationship will be stronger because of it! Good luck!
