You would mostly stay out of his reach while circling him to keep him off balance, kicking at his chins/knees till he fell and then you would continue to kick him in the leg area, while stomping on his hands when he attempted to grab you to stop you. You have to be very careful while doing this, because if he catches you, he will kill you, but you have to break fingers on his hands because after you do you can kick in his face. Not pretty, but trust me, you do not want him coming back for you later and maybe getting the upper hand.

Actually a 400 pound sumo wrestler is considered a lightweight by sumo weight standards. You would be surprised how quick and agile they could be. I would just pepper spray em if possible. All else, I would definitely attack from the side and when they attack they would, as trained, attack by charging directly at you. Therefore, be prepared to use their weight against them and not be in a small confined area to which they can corner you. Kicking them in their genitals would be a mistake, since its buried under layers of fat and would not nuetralize them at all. So strike them in the eye(s) throat and nose whenever possible - you have to remember they are not tough enough for that kind of beating they would rather eat than have their *** kicked.

My answer is pretty much the same as most peoples. You have go for the vulverable targets: knees, nose, jaw, groin. The best way to do this is to keep your distance as much as possible and "pick" at him. What I mean by that is, you would gradually pick him apart by utilising low leg kicks to the knees, jabs to face, hooks and crosses. Always keep moving and never allow him to get on top of you.
If you're a wrestler like me, I wouldn't recommend trying to shoot on him unless you're extremely strong and or are of simular weight. If you manage to get him on the ground, pick an extremity like a leg and knee bar him, or arm and arm bar him. You could choke him out if you got his back but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that, unless I had one of his arms trapped.Even then, he's going to try and roll on you and that will cause you some breathing problems as well.
Other than that, try and knock him out or take his legs out. What you shouldn't do is underestimate him. I've seen some very athletic Sumo wrestlers who were as flexible as a gymnast and half as agile.

Strangely, I'm gonna agree with Hood_12 on this one.... It would be foolish to get within the reach of a sumo wrestler. Chances are they could take some punishment and could do some serious damage to you.
IF I were ever in a situation (street fight/self-defense situation) where someone like that wants to do me harm.... The gloves are off and cheating/fighting dirty is fair game. I'd go for the vulnerable targets he offers me as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I've seen a lot of Sumo get blitzed with head strikes in many old-school MMA bouts. That would be my strategy, to hit him hard, early, and a LOT. I'm also pretty good at leg locks, so if one presented itself, I'd snag it in a second. Since Sumo is the martial art of lifting and pushing, odds are he wouldn't pose too many threats.

Just about ALL very big guys have the same vulnerabilities, and these are all the very same ones smaller guys have. I am talking about the knees, the eyes, the throat, etc. In a "street fight" I would quickly side step any attack he threw, and CRUSH his knee from the side. Have you ever seen a REALLY big guy try to stand up?? Now, imagine him trying to do so with a busted knee...I would then giggle profusely while dialing 911 from my cell phone about 10 feet away.

You could'nt. Only a trained fighter or someone who could match the size and strength of a man that big. Personally someone my size 5'8' 175lbs, should not be in a ring with a 400 lb wrestler. The only circumstance would be a death match, in that case I would run, and if I could'nt do that I would kick him in the nuts, then chop him in the throat, then stick my 2 thumbs down his eyes sockets, then I would stick my hand down his throat into his chest cavity and pull out his heart, then I would eat him.

sumo wrestler are trained to push you out of the ring or take you down that pretty much it a man that size has to be slow with his hands so stricking and side steping is you best bet and alot of sumo wrestlers have pretty go cardio so he might out run you

Circle to your left and repeatedly punch and move. If you stand still he will grab you and put you on your back. After he tires out, which won't take long, kick him in the head. The key would be to keep moving.

Stay out of his reach. You are likely going to be faster and more agile. If he catches you you are going to be in trouble. Keep hitting him. The vulnerable places will be the legs and the head/face. This is true in handling anybody drastically bigger than you.
