They are right.Dandruff is on the scalp so length of your hair doesnt matter. But then again a good trim is always healthy for your hair.
Have you tried using tepid water when washing your hair?Hot water makes your scalp dry, hence dandruff.
Next thing that you should do is find out what triggers your dandruff. I have a friend who gets dandruff from using pantene and my sister get hers from garnier shampoo.
Last advise, try using hair masks or deep conditioner....it comes in different brands and usually sold in tubs(dove, pantene, garnier etc..)Use this 2-3x a wk.After shampooing put in your hair then comb through i through to distribute the product.(combing is good too as it massages the scalp). Then put a warm towel on your head(put damp towel in microwave for 1 min) to open the pores on your scalp.Do this for 5 mins and rinse.
I swear you can notice the difference as soon as your hair dries...
Continue doing this until your scalp gets it moisture back.
Personal note:
Ive been doing this 3 yrs in a row now and I dont get dandruff during the winter(bec of hot showers)and since I like the feeling of soft and silky hair,I do this through the season..And oh yeah..especially after I swam during the summer..Prevents my hair from getting dry.. :)

You don't have to trim your hair. Flakes come from the scalp not your actual hair so the length of hair doesn't matter. It could be the weather, when it gets colder, our skin, nails, hair gets drier and needs more moisture. But my biggest tip is, use PROFESSIONAL products. Drug store brands use filler ingredients like common table salt in all of their products. Some people do fine with these products and don't find a difference BUT some people, like you and me, are really sensitive to it. You need to use quality products. Drug store shampoos cleanses your hair, yes, but it also DEPOSITS a lot of crap as well. Their styling products are the same, and they use a lot of alcohol which dries out the scalp and hair further. Try Redken Solve for a shampoo or the ECOCARE Mazzotta line (shampoo and conditioner). They are amazing and should do the trick. Also, if you are using hair products, keep them away from your scalp as often as possible. Styling products lines with little to no alchohol in it include: Joico, AG or ABBA. Hope that helps.

I have that too. I think it's just the shampoo or conditioner. I have noticed if I don't wash it out very good, it will do that. But once a week, I always use Selsun Blue. Just massage your scalp with it good and let it sit for a few minutes and then wash it out. Follow with a deep conditioner. Be sure to wash all of it out.

nicely, that's stressful to define "shrink to rubble," yet I understand what you propose. Dyeing your hair, no count number if bleaching (finished head or highlights with foils or cap) or utilizing diverse dyes, variations the "DNA" of your hair. The dye compounds saturate into deeper layers of the hair shaft and alter the melanin interior of it. With this in recommendations, that's significant to guard and moisturize till now and after coloring. while coloring at living house, prep your hair by utilizing a deep conditioner the day till now. The day of, do no longer shampoo, and artwork with dry hair. Use a formula that's stated for its conditioning traits (many promote that they make the main of oils). you additionally can prefer to apply a semi-everlasting shade to start for much less dedication. If utilizing everlasting shade, that's stated on the container, do no longer attempt something too drastic. while you're unhappy with the outcomes, it's going to be greater stable to repair. shop this in recommendations: tint does not carry tint, this capacity that the only thank you to "carry" darkish shade out is oftentimes to apply a doubtlessly destructive product. additionally, for maintenance, you need to use a shade conditioner and/or a "depositing shampoo" that may preserve and brighten your shade between touch-ups. that's necessary for crimson tones. you will possibly desire to constantly alleviate any questions by seeing a expert colorist, the place they could no longer basically answer your questions yet take the mandatory steps to stay away from your project. basically a thought. :-)

there is nothing wrong with your hair, its just your scalp.......try different dandruff shampoos because after using one for so long it doesn't really work any more......if it is really bad then try Listerine just poor some on your scalp not your hair....it will burn, but it will take away some of the dandruff!

The length of your hair will not matter. Dandruff comes from your scalp. Maybe check your scalp, it might not be dandruff, you might have a very dry scalp.
