Is this an effective means of getting businesses to support fundamentalist Christian causes, or a largely futile effort that turns off nonbelievers?
Same question goes for forwarding boycott notices/requests or complaints about businesses that...fill in the blank: don't say Christmas, offer benefits to gay partners, etc.
What do you think?

Once again - I am just asking the question, I AM NOT BOYCOTTING ANYTHING!!! I get many boycott notices from a Christian friend and want to know Christians' opinions on this practice.
Just because a person asks a question doesn't mean they are endorsing one side or the other.

I think Boycotting gets people to listen, but it doesn't necessarily change the way people think. You can't force someone to believe what you do, or think the way you do.
I think Christians should just show people about our religion by the way we act, not by the way we can 'coerce' you into loving God. It has never worked, it never will. If we show people what a loving, just Father God is, then that is all that is needed.

Yes and I do.
Just because I am a Christian doesn't mean that I am not a person living in the same world as you.
My belief system is such that I boycott for honesty, truthfulness and integrity if my $dollar$ is up for grabs. It is, after all, about the bottom line. Always has been and always will be. I just make sure that the businesses that compete for my money know where I stand and that I can always go somewhere else.

I think it all depends, a business that offers benefits to all people, no mater their sin, and we ALL have sinned not just gay, is a good according to Jesus, and saying happy holidays to all,is fine too.as long as they don't keep me from saying Merry Christmas. I am a christian and proud, but i live in America where each person has the right to chose how they believe, including how they run their business. But being a christian i would prefer to shop at christian store and seek services from fellow believers that's my right as a Christian American.
But i do not believe in gay marriage, why would they want to do something founded in a religion, that says what they do is a sin. Civil union, their call, but marriage is Gods.

Boycott, whatever you want, good luck with that. But, don't be surprised when nothing happens. Fundamentalist Christians are a very self-important group, you don't have as much clout as you thought you did after the 2004 election. Non-believers are turned off by the stupid things all religions do in the name of religion, but I support your right to be an idiot.

They can boycott but if the cause is self serving, I think businesses will ignore them, if they get enough costumers, it will just be a futile effort on the part of the fundamentalists.

Boycotts are one of the best ways to get the attention of a business, but it depends on the issue and situation.
I think a more positive spin would be to support businesses that are pro-cause, as opposed to boycotts of anti-cause businesses, but the positive doesn't get the same impact.

Excuse me, Disney isn't allowing to provider gay Marriages. they at the instant are not doing same-intercourse marriages, only dedication ceremonies, they're beginning up this venue for issues different than valid marriages, and that includes dedication ceremonies. those ceremonies do not require a valid marriage license. Disney's determination to try this exchange right into a company determination that not basically will deliver in further funds for them, yet will certainly comprise all the typical public, not basically a definite element of it. Disney had allowed gay couples to take part in its vow renewals application yet excluded them from determining to purchase wedding ceremony applications by utilising requiring a valid marriage license from California or Florida, which do not enable or understand gay marriages. additionally, Disney would not carry gay Days. gay Days Anaheim and Orlando are unoffical activities prepared by utilising people without relation to The Walt Disney company. possibly Disney recognizes those activities, simply by fact they deliver about greater people into their topic Parks and lodges, for this reason making much and quite some greater funds.

Boycott what you will, I don't patronize businesses for their religious beliefs and practices. I like most people shop for goods, services and prices.

You know Bill Gates is an avowed atheist, don't you? Isn't it time you boycotted Microsoft? Unplug that PC, take it to the charity shop, and read your bible full time instead. That'll show him and his atheistic friends.
