please help some people say 30 mins per pound on 350 degrees and some say 17 mins per pound on 350 degrees

20 lb turkey cooks 4 1/4 to 5 hours... when the breast meat reaches the internal temperature of 170 degrees F.

If your turkey was originally frozen 20 minutes per pound at 350 degrees (about 5 hours). Then let it sit for 30 minutes before carving to redistribute the juices. Defrost if frozen for 3 days in the refrigerator.

I believe you cook the turkey at 350 deg. But you want to make sure before you remove the turkey that the internal temp. at the thickest part of the turkey has reached 180deg. Here's a chart that I found:

10 to 18lbs 3 to 3-1/2
18 to 22lbs 3-1/2 to 4
22 to 24lbs 4 to 4-1/2
24 to 30lbs 4-1/2 to 5

Just bought a 20 pound turkey. I'm looking at 41/2 hours. Well basted too.

4hrs. at 400 degrees. for the first half hr, cook it uncovered at 425 degrees. then cover and cook at 400 degrees for approximately 3 1/2 hrs.
