I lost a lot of weight about 3 years ago by basically eating three times a week and walking 10+ miles per day.

Now I eat regular meals and walk about 4 miles a day but I always feel like I am having an adrenalin rush, even when I am tired.

If I don't have a few alcoholic drinks before bed I end up only sleeping about 2 hours a night.

Get to a sleep clinic, And/or an endocrinologist.
There are many reasons for sleep disturbance. For example, you even could have an overactive thyroid gland. Endorphins are not usually overproduced for any length of time, and even if they were your body would chemically adapt to the high levels. As it does to introduced (exogenous anabolic steroid inection and p.e.a. the passion natural hormone, (it lasts about a year for p.e.a. (phenethy amine), and the romantic rush and euphoria. In the case of introduced steroids, the body stops making its own. wears off).
There are dozens of possible reasons for your insomnia and thorough examination, personal history and extensive blood work will be done and the problem figured out. Alcohol is not a particularly effective sleep inducing agent. It may work for you but there are many better pharmaceuticals available for prescription. Also alcohol may cause dependency problems in the future.
Good luck, and get going to an expert in sleep medicine.
Doc. Dan.

I have been averaging 4 to 5 hours a night ever since I turn 35 and lost 80 pound. I think it’s normal to loss sleep as you get older even they don’t tell you. My military think I have family stress. I should use that for excuses. “My wife is driving me NUTS to the point I can’t sleep so I can’t go to middle east!”

I don’t think High endorphin is a health risk, I think your body mass is more important to how long you live then anything else old man.

Hey I just turn 41 this October.
