She's a mix but can anyone tell me what her ancestery might be? She is quite small (about 5 pounds) at a year old. She is very independent and doesn't like to be held or cuddled (except at naptime). She is very energetic and sleeps very little for a cat.

She looks like she may have a bit of Maine Coon - but they get quite large 15 - 20 lbs and have distinct tufts on the tips of their ears (like a lynx). Legend has it the they are a cross between a wild cat - Perhaps lynx), a house cat and a raccoon. Of course - that's not possible.

The vet would say she's a domestic long hair, brown mackerel tabby.

Regardless of her heritage - she's a lovely little kitty.

Pretty baby!! I don't think she has any Maine Coon - not enough characteristics, but it is hard to say. Definitely some Tabby in there, but no real way to know, cats are from all breeds unless bred by a professional. I had a cat that had a Calico mom and a solid white dad and she was a dead ringer for a seal-point Siamese. The Vet insisted that she was one - even though I could prove her parents - he told me that I did not know what I was talking about.

cats don't really have breeds like dogs do. There are Domestic Short Hair, Domestic Medium Hair, and Domestic Long Hair for the most part, with only a few distinct breeds like Siamese, Maine Coon, and Ocicats, for example. get a Cat book from the bookstore.

from your pic, she is a Domestic Long Hair Tabby. Tabby isnt a breed, it just refers to the stripes.

She looks to have some Maine Coon in her, but if you say that she is small, she may have Norwegian Forest cat. Maine Coons have a very distinctive ruff around the neck, which your girl has. She also looks to have some pretty big paws, is she still growing? Anyway, I would say a Maine Coon mix. Shes beautiful.

She appears to be a long haired taby possibly a mix with maine coon . Maine coons have very silky soft hair and an M shape over their eyes. go to www.fanciers.com and choose cat breeds

if i saw the right picture she might have Maine Coon in her, or some Himalayan, in any case she looks like a nice cat, just remember to brush her.

She's pretty I'd say maybe persian cuz of the long fur around the face and tabby cuz of the color and stripes but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
