I had a really rubbish orthodontist when i was younger and he took my brace off before my teeth were straight. My two front teeth stick out, not really badly but it makes me very self concious i am 19 so i cant get a brace on the nhs as it is not considered to be serious enough and i cant afford to go private has anyone got any ideas?

I'm not really sure what you can do! Like the others have suggested go back to your orthodontist and tell him the situation. I very much doubt you will get them done through a training hospital though; this is because of the NHS cutbacks and therefore they only deal with people in extremely severe cases. Maybe you could talk to GP as well though; by explaining to them how your self esteem/confidence is affected maybe they can write a letter of recommendation to your dentist that you need to have your teeth corrected. And like the others have said maybe try writing a letter of complaint to the NHS about your dentist. Good luck!

I need braces myself, so I can not go about judging anyone.........until I get my own teeth fixed. When your Orthodontist was taking off your braces, did you not tell him that your teeth were not all the way straight? I will be getting my braces in a couple more years, so I really have nothing to say! I would go back to the office where he works and tell him the situation.............if that does not work, I would write a letter to the Governer of your state! When I had a problem, My Grandma and I did the same thing.........and it worked too!
Good Luck!

There is a company that offers dental benefits that can save you up to 80% on your dental work. I know they handle braces. It costs $11.95 for the benefits package but well worth the savings. They also offer Free Prescription, Free Vision and Chiropractic Care is all included in the $11.95.

Good luck Girl,

Ask another NHS dentist for a second opinion. I believe they vary in what they will and won't allow on the NHS. Also, ask your own dentist again. Nag him/her!
