because there are so many "hypocrites" period, regardless if they are "religious" or otherwise...
there are indeed many "religious" hypocrites for the simple reason that God did not create a religion, humans did.
Man put forth a lot of dos and donts, most of which are nothing but doable (& of course the people who instigated these rules do not really expect anyone can obey them all, much less they themselves).
As far as the God of the Bible is concerned, all I know is that He gave us only 2 commandments--Love God & Love your neighbor.
Although initially God gave Adam & Eve only one commandment--do not eat out of that one tree.

I don't believe there are as many religious hypocrits as you may think. The thing is, hypocrit comes from the greek and it was a character in a play. A hypocrit (since I can't think of the full Greek word) was someone who wore a mask and played the roll. A religious hypocrit I would say is someone who is preaching one thing and living something totally different. We have to understand that everyone sins and falls short of the glory. That isn't a hypocrit that is a human. There are far more spiritual humans than there are hypocrits it's just that the news and tabloids only exploit those who are doing wrong.

The girl with the blue hair and glasses calling herself plainly "me" actually has a very good point! I agree with her. If you are only going to preach only that which you can practice perfectly then nobody would be able to say a thing about any moral, spiritual or ethical injunction. this is becasue we are all short of perfection. This is something that Socrates and plato themselves recognized, considering who is coming from I guess that those who don't believe in God or jesus shuld listen to them. Just because you say that a certain rule applies, or that X or Y SHOULD be done, it doesn't follow that only those who can keep with it can actually proclaim it. One thing is the rule, another one is the player.
God bless.
Besides, we are all sinners and are only saved through the grace of christ and his sacrifice on the cross, but we keep on being sinners non the less.

I wouldn't call anyone a hypocrite, but understand that years of misinterpretation of religious teachings breed ignorance instead of unity.

For the same reason there are so many other types of hypocrites.: Deuteronomy 32:5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot [is] not [the spot] of his children: [they are] a perverse and crooked generation.

Why are there so many non-religious/atheist hypocrites in the world?
Complain about "Intolerance" and then show intollerance toward those you label as intolerant!
