I've no idea but that sounds a bit scary. I'd take him to a different vet for a second opinion. He should be healthy at one year old. The next time he might not get up, don't 'monitor' him, that's crazy! Get him properly checked out.

Christ that must be scary we have a four year old called Oscar aint they great big softies though he he anyway I did speak to one owner who's Bernie used to collapse on walks, turned out to be a dicky ticker, but lived till 7 years old just when they get to 13 stone they are hard to carry anyway hopefully yours may be something less sinister, but I would suspect maybe a heart condition, track his parents siblings down it may run in the family, and if you dare take hime for a really good hard run yeh like 200 yds for a bernie and see if he keels over, although it could be a form of epilepsy.

Has she been outside? It almost sounds like she was hit by a car and has a broken jaw. That or she got her tooth stuck on something and ripped it partially out so now she can't close her jaw. In either case medical attention is necessary so take her to the vet.

Has your dog been on heartworm medication? Did the vet check / monitor your dogs heart? Have you had blood work drawn to see enzyme levels and to get a base line reading on your dogs overall health? Is it possible your dog had a seizure?
You might want to find a vet group who has several different specialist under one roof. You are able to treat your dog for either of these problems if you are able to find a good vet for diagnosis and treatment.
What area are you in?

Have your dogs heart checked immediately! They tried to tell me my dog had pain from a bad back and thats what was causing it, but then she died in the vets office from Congestive Heart Failure! I didnt know that there were drugs she could have been on to help her. Beleive me, its your dogs heart, he is having mini heart attacks every time he does that.

Could be a lot of things. Among them are the dog could be having a seisure or it could have a weak heart. I've had dogs with both. Not much you can do unless you want to buy your vet a new car.

sounds like he's having a hydration problem.i'm old school, these new vets now a days don't give half a care even though they act like they do.make sure you're keeping Plenty of fresh water in constant supply, this dog over heats very quickly,i seen so many of them poor things die from dehydration.i take it you're feeding enough?proper diet, not generic!
