Because people are so full of themselves they can't admit that if someone doesn't care about the things that are important to them, they try to eradicate them. It scares them to think their way of life might just be inconsequential.
For example, i think i could be categorized as Agnostic & i live in a small Catholic farm town. No matter how friendly i am to people when i go out shopping they always have something to say about when will they see me in church!
When i point out that i'm standing in front of them, they think i'm being rude.
Also i'm childless by choice at 38 yrs old, living with my SO for 10 yrs now. Those things are real conversation killers, but it seems that if one is female, one must care about those things.
Well not me, the funny part is, i could care less about whether they have kids or not! But i guess my childlessness offends their sense of God-given duty!
HA! Hope this helps.

because people are very serious about their religions. They think that there way is the right way (most major religions) and therefore when someone does something that is against their religious beliefs, they think those people are against God, therefore a war is born.
How so much hatred can come out of religions that teach to love, I do not know.

They haven't.
Ok, None of those people do what they do because religion tells them to do it.
Nobody reads the Torah, New Testament, or Quran and says, "Hey, I didn't know that I have to kill people to get to Heaven. Well, I'd better obligate my duties."
No religion teaches killing.
For example, the Islamic suicide bombers who quote the Quran.
They want to kill, because their families were killed or because their friends were killed, not because of the Quran.
They just want to kill.
If they were Christian, they would just quote Jesus saying, "An Eye for an Eye, and a tooth for a tooth" adding on, a death for a death.
BUT Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all teach Mercy.
Be merciful, forgive.
None of the Crimes of Humanity have been because of a certain religion.
Hitler wanted to convert all christians into Hitler-worshippers.
Hitler burned crosses.
None of these wars have been religion based, but only greed based, or desperation based, etc.
I have many nonreligious friends who say, hey, I'm going to do good how I please and I'm not going to read any religion's books because there is a chance that they may inspire me to become evil and do bad things.
All religions are only GUIDANCE.
None of them says that you shouldn't do good as you please.
My nonreligious friends always tell me, "Yeah, I believe in one all powerfull being who is God, but.." then they tell me that they don't want to get caught up in that Jewish, Christian, Muslim thing.
Seriously, next time that you find a religious person whom you believe to be good, ask him to show you the good side of religion, the REAL side of religion.
I have always looked for advice from friends and teachers and family. The holy books are only universal books of advice from God (). That's all. They only advize you.
Being religious makes you no less, only more.
Good luck, Peace.

Its the ideas of wicked minds that have been the cause for so much violence. Religion just happens to be something they try to use to support their evil ideas. If there was no religion, they would find something else as there is obviously violent nonbelievers as well. Just credit man's own greed and desire to be better than everyone else.

The 20th century, the era of the atheist regimes, was the bloodiest century in human history.
So it is not religion that is to blame. Try taking away religion, like these regimes did, and you end up with brutality on an absolutley unimaginable scale. A brutality which put all previous inhuman crimes in the shade.

the 1st one is the only one that is mandatory to understand that there is not any god. loss of evidence for something is the reason we've self belief it to no longer be so. God isn't 'specific' in any way, its only yet another thought like each others and could be taken care of the two. No evidence, no god.

Because they are man made religions and therefore not perfect. Men get jealous, greedy, hateful and when they tell others that an almighty god told them to do something, the people believe. It all has to do with lies and lack of education.

When someone attacks what you truly believe, especially when it has to do with your soul or your eternity depending on what you believe, people are willing to die for that.
