Wow, good luck with that. I have been bleaching my hair for almost a year now and some parts of it still aren't turning up blond, but a brassy brown instead. My hair is naturally very dark and I was dying it black for years and I decided that I wanted to do the "skunk" look with the black and platinum blond. My hair dresser freaked out when I told her but she gave it a try. I'm only bleaching the bottom part of it so that the damage won't be that noticeable but there is A LOT of damage. My whole lower half part of my hair is now bleached but the color isn't even and I haven't achieved the platinum color I've been wanting. It's really hard to die black hair a light color. If you want a change try a deep purple or blue. That looks really cool once the sun hits it. Stick with the dark colors because trust me, it is a big pain in the butt to keep bleaching your hair and you will cause a lot of damage. Good luck!

Do you go to a hairstylist? I hope you do. This requires a lot of work and should be done GRADUALLY. If you try to bleach it, it WILL turn out spotty and damage your hair. You can burn your hair off if you're not careful. Not trying to scare you but I've seen some pretty damaged hair. Since you're a first timer at this I really recommend you see a professional. Most salons offer free consultations, go in and see a stylist, it won't cost you anything and you can get more detailed answers. It also depends on how light your hair is naturally and what color you want to go.

Go to a professional colorist. Don't attempt to bleach it yourself, especially since your hair is already processed. You could end up breaking your hair off, turning it a funky color or at the very least severely damaging it. Since your hair is black they will have to lift the color up gradually. It will take some time to get it to the shade that you want, but it's better then doing it yourself and ruining your hair.

One of my friend died her hair brown and then bleach it, it turn light red, she had to bleach it at least 6 times before it was gone..so it takes time. and it damages your head a lot. But if you do I think you can get light red or another color, (not sure what color black is made of) and if you will dye it again, it deepens on what color you are going to dye it, if it is a dark or red color, or something I don’t think it matters so much… Maybe you can talk to a hairdresser.

Let a professional do it. Your colored hair, when it's bleached will probably come up a different color than your natural re-growth. Then when you color your hair you will have a couple different colors. Bleach is very damaging and is always best left to a professional... I have bleached hair and it really takes a tole on your hair and scalp.

To keep your hair from damage go with a mostly natraul formula like Natural Instincts from Loreal. Also have a friend do the dyeing for you so you don't miss a spot. I wouldn't suggest dying your hair a diffrent color just yet, at least wait a month so your hAair doesn't damage easily
