Remember your kitten is a domesticated animal that doesn't think like a person. Your kitty is developing all of it's sense right now and is marking it's territory as to who will be the boss. As cute as this might seem right now it could become a very agressive and unacceptable behavior if the kitty begins to think it is at the top of the family heirarchy.

I don't see anything wrong with this if it is done gently and with respect. I would be sure, if I were you, to let the kitty know at times that you don't want this to be done so it learns that you are the boss.

You don't have to be overly assertive with your reprimand but be firm in saying no. Maybe a little tap on the nose or a finger pointed at the kitty when you say no so it gets the message.

But by all means don't stop petting and loving on this little sweetie.

Hope this helps

When a cat bites you or licks you it means they are trying to show love. cats in the real world would do this to there moms about a couple weeks before they are born. so if your cat bites you it is showing affectionate. if you push her away from that she will think you don't like him/her. and she will begin to ignore you. usually cats become mature at about age one. so that is when she will quit biting you.

That's how kittens often play with their littermates, or in this case, you. Sometimes it's also referred to as a "love bite", gentle bites followed by kisses. It's not like they have the lips to pucker up for you! :-)

my sister calls it a "love bite"

either she is playing and gets overly excited..

or she is nudging and insisting on you paying attention and playing with her. those are the reasons my cat does that.

first time she did that i freaked out. but realized she didn't hurt me at all. i was just really shocked. lol.

Haha, for some reason, my mom calls those bites "chibbies"... don't know where it came from. I think it's because they love you so much they've got to hold themselves back from taking a chunk of you for themselves. lol. Just me. =)

he just wants to play, if he is very young he will do it more often, it will stop once he gets older, but if it hurts, u have to show him it does and push him away, or say no loud enough, that way he will learn that u are not his toy.
