I adopted a kitten who is about 4 months old (some of you may have seen my post about her spaying operation earlier) and she is just the sweetest thing. She loves to cuddle, and I've never met a cat who is so content just to sit with a human. Whenever I come on the computer, I bring her with me to sit and play with me, so she trusts and is used to me (we have to keep her in separate rooms due to our older cat who is not yet used to her). Today I brought her into the living room with me and she was laying with me as usual, and then she learned a new trick: run from across the room, onto the footrest, hop into the chair I am in, and bite my face. She did it so quickly that it hurt but didn't break the skin, so I yelled NO, but then she did it again twice! How do I discourage her from doing that? I know I should not pick her up to move her away, and I would never hurt her in any way, but if she is on top of me, what other option do I have but to pick her up?

Sounds like she's just playing, unless you can tell that she's upset/or angry when she's doing it. But I think she's just playing as she would play w/ other kittens. What you can do is get a clean spray bottle, fill it with water, and give her a little spray in the face when she does it along with the word "No!"
She should get the picture

Why do you have FIVE week old kittens? Kittens should stay with their mother until they're at least eight weeks of age. And did you just toss them together? New pets should be SLOWLY introduced. I'll copy and paste my standard reply about introducing new cats modified to fit you: Put the new kittens in a room with their own food, water and litter box - a bedroom or bathroom would be best. Keep the new kittens completely separated from the existing cat for at least a few days - even a week or two. Put an old tshirt with the new kittens to get its scent on it, then give this shirt to the existing cat and then back again. This way they'll get used to eachother's scent. The WORST thing to do is to just plunk a cat or kitten down in the middle of a room with access to the entire home. Being in a new home is overwhelming and can be quite scary for most cats. So let them get slowly used to your one room and THEN once he seems comfortable let them see the rest of your home and the existing cat. And the existing cat is naturally going to be territorial - are you really surprised with his behavior? Of course this might take longer now, though, since you didn't do this from the start. I really hope these kittens were checked out by a vet and tested for Feline Leukemia BEFORE you allowed them to interact with your existing cats. If not, and they're FeLv positive, your cats now may be as well. Let's hope not as FeLv is a deadly and incurable disease.

Why would you NOT pick her up and move her away? She'll never learn that's it's not okay to attack your face if you never give her a reason not to do it.

Don't hurl the cat away from you; just pick it up off of you, tell it calmly and firmly "no bite", and put it on the floor. Don't snuggle with it or coddle it until it can behave well. If you don't teach it the kind of behavior you will or will not accept, who else will?

when she bites, just tap her head gently but to let her know that is not a good thing. You can also spray her with a little water when she bites. The thing here is that you dont seem to want her not to jump on you, but just to not bite.

Those are the only things I know that work with my cat.

My cat has some "anger problems" she can start to attack you in so little time... This is stress your cat is probably going through. You can try to help her by just giving her some alone time, but if sh edoesn't like to be alone just give her some space... I bet she will become alot sweeter then she ever was before... GOOD LUCK :)
