Probably the exercise bike as it doesn't put a lot of stress on the knee (as long as you don't put to much resistance on the flywheel/tensioner,also make sure your seat is the correct height you want to have a slight bend in your knee at full stretch.

rowing machine is the best as it used the most muscles. with the dodgy knee id suggest a cross trainer. they are zero impact so it will be kind on your knees and ankles. i wouldnt suggest treadmill for running if you have a lot of weight to use. too many people wanting to lose weight start running but as they are not used to it, they will get knee and ankle pains and then be unable to train.
dont forget to change your diet. diet is more important than exercise when trying to lose weight.

I would have to say the treadmill..or better yet the elliptical machines work very well. You have to make sure you are working inyour target heart rate to get the best workout if your doing any kind of cardio. You find your target heart rate by subtracting your age from 120. If your not parcial to machines..the way to go would be to walk the track if the gym has one.I lost a LOTof weight walking (be sure to stay in your target heatr rate zone though:)

Any sort of cardio vascular equipment is good for losing weight, but if you have a dodgy knee, I would recommend a treadmill.

with the bad knee it's hard to get a cardiac speed good enough for weight loss. Might try the stationary bicycle, that is what I use. Or, if the gym has a pool, swimming laps would be perfect for you.

Stair Climber.. burns more calories in less time spent.. most efficient... be careful though if ur not in shape start off with something less strenuous like the treadmill or recumbant bike.. in the order of most effective to least effective... this is the order of things..
1. Stairmaster
2. Treadmill / eliptical
3. Bike

unquestionably, it is threadmill. Jogging or walking at a fast pace on it on an empty stomach supposing you keep track on ur diet, will be the best for everyone to lose weight.
