Yes. Your TV viewing expectations were created from years of watching standard definition TV on a CRT television. The resolution of HDTV is so much sharper that you have to be closer to the screen to take advantage of it. Where you could watch a standard TV from eight or 10 feet away, you really want to be four to six feet from a 37-inch HDTV to really get the impact of the clarity.

I'm also looking for a new HDTV set (I have a 27-inch LCD panel from a couple years ago) and I have ruled out 32-inch models. I'm looking for 37-inch and bigger, as my experience is that it will look great at the distance I sit from the display.

I must say it is nice to mention to someone you have brought a large screen but the best thing to do is use viewing size vs distance charts you will have more respect when someone comes around and watches. Nothing wrong with 32" it is quite a large size already

the bigger the screen the better it is...if you can afford a 42" even better
