im wondering why my dog is attacking her pups. this is her third and final litter of puppies. the other night we found one puppy with a large lump and bleeding from her head. this morning we woke up hearing a puppy screaming she had done something to this one as well. she seems remorseful later which she probably is. her puppies are no longer breastfed because they are almost 7 wks. im sure shes tired of them but she has never done this to any of her other puppies in the past

She's got to be separated from them, and soon! I had a Doberman that did this. She attacked the puppies when they cried, at 7 weeks old...She had to be put down, as she attacked a toddler when it cried...
Thankfully, none of her pups ( one and only litter) inherited that unstable disposition, as I followed up on them to make sure....

If the puppies are seven weeks old, she's probably done with her "mama thing" and wants them away from her.

The attacks may be prompted by them trying to get into her food (which she may no longer tollerate), or by them trying to nurse (their sharp teeth can hurt her teats and make her respond with aggression). As dogs get older, they can become less tollerant of the puppies' antics.

Since they're weaned, we suggest moving the puppies away from their mom so there are no more opportunities for her to harm them.

For the same reason your momma wanted you out of the house. She needs her space take those puppies away from her.

well the doberman thing mentioned above is normal for that breed,as they age they get a fluid build that causes them to go off.not all but,a lot do.
your mama dog is getting tired she's trying to keep her pups from sucking on her, she's proably very sore after her third litter.she's breaking them,if you spend more time watching i'm sure you'll see that they are still trying to suck.

this is somewhat common, due to the fact that the puppies are old enough to care for them selves, however if she is afflicting damage on them it may be in the puppies best interest to separate them from mom!!!
