My son got a Fisher Price GeoTrax train set for his 2nd birthday and he loves it! The sets are sturdy, the remote control is simple enough for him to control the train, and there are other sets you can buy to add on to it.

Do you want interesting to YOU or to your child?

Toddlers are interested in a wide variety of things - especially things that can stack, make noise, and so forth. Some of them you probably have around your house already. Interesting to children does not need to be expensive.

My son loves to take a spoon and bang away at an empty cookie tin - the kind that you get with sugar cookies in. He loves to shake full Kraft Dinner boxes. He also enjoys stacking and rearranging the canned goods from my cupboard. (Supervision is required with this if the cans are heavy for their size - think squashed toes!)

Little kids often get more fun out of the package that toys come in rather than the toys themselves.

If you want store-bought toys, you can get large blocks or stacking rings, or ride or push toys. The best toys involve the child using hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, and so forth.

Don't worry about those "educational" toys (like Leapsters) yet. Most 2-year-olds aren't ready for them. Try reading to them instead from books with simple dialogue and large, bright pictures.

You are the best toy if you have the time to spend with them.

My son is turning 2 on Christmas day, I've been looking at somethings to buy him.... this is the coolest thing that I've found so far!

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4966429#top

If you go to www.fisherprice.com you can look up toys by the age group, and show you what a 2 year old would be interested in!!!!

Good luck!

My nephew is 2 and we are getting him an aquadoodle pad, a razor junior electric scooter, and some books for Christmas. For his birthday in April, I'm hoping to snag a TMX Tickle Me Elmo Extreme.
