My friend is being harrassed by a woman twice her age (see's 28 and the lady is 29). She keeps emailing this horrible emails for about 2 weeks now. All over $90. My friend paid her with a money order making sure to send it through the post office requiring a signature. Now a week later (my friend hasn't contacted her) she's being served by the sheriff. We know it's because of this crazy lady. I think it's a restraining order. Will a restraining order ruin her teaching career?

No. It isn't even something that shows up on a background check. Maybe with the issuance of the order, the other person will just back off. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Point 1. if your friend is 28 and the other lady is 29, how is that twice her age.

Point 2. Why didn't she just block her email from coming in. There is much more to this story you are not telling, give us the whole story.

Point 3, if there is a restraining order you friend needs to get the court to schedule a hearing on it since she was not at the initial hearing to rebut the charges.

Point 4. She should get a mutual restraining order on the other person while she is at it.

No. It will not ruin her career. Now if she gets arrested for not following the restraining order, the school might fire her. But she can always get another job. We need plenty of teachers.

Why would a restraining order be known at her place of business? She should contact an attorney to protect her rights in any case.

it depends on the basis of the order whether it has any impact on her. it may be temporary and can be pursued in court, or permanment which is usually only after a court hearing to granrt it is held whjere the accused can be heard. she should retain legal counsel, evemn if just from legal aide.

NO. SHE HAS TO CHALLENGE IT IN COURT. ALONG WITH THE RESTRAINING ORDER I'M SURE SHE GOT A COURT DATE. PRINT OUT ALL THE INSULTING E.MAILS AS WELL AS HER RESPONSES. THIS SHOULD GIVE THE JUDGE SOMETHING TO GO WITH THEN FILE A RESTRAINING ORDER ON THE NUT JOB.
