It depends on the certain buyer. From my experience, I would recommend PayPal.

Before you bid on the auction, ensure you agree to the sellers terms. If they take Paypal only, and you are not set up that then do not bid. They will not accept any other payment. However, if they also allow for checks and or money orders, You would be safe to get either a bank check and or Money Order. They can be traced. I have done this before as I have sent money and received no product. You can trace the money order and have a copy of the money order or bank check photo copied and sent to your address. At this point you can contact the sellers local police department and file a claim of Internet fraud which is now a pretty big deal. I have done all this and next thing you know, you will get your money back because the heat is on. I was working with the DA's office in another state as the seller has done this before. This was all over $20 dollars. I would have really put the heat on if it was any more than that.
Go money order or bank check. Check the sellers Feedback rating, if over 90% you should be pretty safe.

It all depends on the individual seller. Some will take personal checks, most won't. I would use Paypal, Western Union or Bid Pay. I would never send or accept a personal check to/from an individual I did not know very well.

Most sellers do not accept them anymore, but there are a few who will.
better to get an online account such as Paypal or Bidpay and pay through them, as others before me suggested.
