I'm sure there are. Not me, I'm not afraid of dying, so why should I be afraid of flying? Death is a certainty, there is no escape. It will happen sooner or later, and compared with eternity, the difference between sooner and later is pretty insignificant. So, although I'm not in a hurry to leave, why worry about it? It isn't going to help me avoid death to protect myself from every possible way of dying. Then, I would just be bored the whole time I am growing old, only to die of old age anyway.
Know what I mean? Flying is exhilarating, especially in small planes, hang-gliders, helicopters, and fighter jets launched from catapults on ships in the ocean. Zero gravity is the best sensation. If I let fear rule my mind, I feel small and helpless in the world. When I let myself be free of all fear, I feel forever.
Fear is a lie. Just do it.

Terrified!! And I work as a mental health therapist. As a matter of fact, I have a new job that is going to require me to fly to Salt Lake City the second week of December and I'm not sure if I can get onto the plane and do it...I know I have got to do it to keep this new job, but unsure if I can,
It is the idea that the surivial rate is so low when a place crashes. Also my life is the hands of guy that might be to tired or drugged to be flying the plane.
Logically it is a 1: in 8 million chance that you will die in a plane. You are more likely to die being struck by lighting. Still it is terrifying!! Let, me know if you make it on the plane...

I am terrified! I HATE flying so much, I feel like I am trapped in there and that the plane could just fall out of the sky. I flew to Detroit last week and as soon as I got off I promised myself I'd never fly again. I know that it's pretty much impossible to crash, but I just get so nervous and stressed (especially during the takeoff) that it's not even worth it to do that to myself anymore, I'd rather just drive! I even tried drinking before getting on the plane, but that just made me nervous and annoying to the people next to me (sorry Raegan from Denver..) I don't think people are meant to be in the air above the clouds!

I am very scared of flying. I get so nervous during turbulence that my heart feels like it is going to jump out. However, I take deep breaths and remind myself that the the main reason there are airplane accidents is equipment failure. You also have to remember that the flight crew is taking every measure to ensure your safety--and theirs of course.

They realize that every day they are in charge of making flights as smooth as possible.

If nothing else works to calm me down, I go to the bar and drink two glasses of red wine really fast to relax; the flight actually becomes more enjoyable. Personally, I'm slowly taking control of this fear as I travel more.

I love to fly. I am not scared of flying. I am scared of crashing.

Only if I had no control over my flight ! Like in a hot air balloon (I'd rather die before going into one of those) But normally, considering that I could control where I want to go, it would be an adventure most probably !

Yes I am very afraid of flying. I think its because if anything happens and you are a passenger you have no control at all and your fate is sealed.
