At times I do. Sometimes I feel like life is just an endless cycle of work weeks and weekends. Mondays thru Fridays, then Saturdays and Sundays. Mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights...then it starts all over again. Same with the seasons. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, then Winter all over again. We have to do exciting things and change up our routine and be careful not to fall into too much of a routine or things in our lives become mundane.

I don't necessarily feel that some other force is governing my life. I feel I have control over the events in my life for the most part (other than circumstances I that are beyond my control). I believe we only let ourselves go into auto pilot.

No you don't really feel it. The plane flies the same in autopilot and when the pilot is behind the controls. If you have flown before, you most likely have rode in a plane that is on autopilot.

What happens is the pilot gets a flight course from air traffic control, and sets the plane to continue on this course. The plane is in autopilot most of the time it is in flight.

Autopilot doesn't take control from the pilot because the flight courses are determined by air traffic control. The pilots must keep the planes on course whether through autopilot or by using their instruments. This is why planes don't crash in the air - the courses are mapped out on a computer. Planes can even fly safely through thick clouds with no risk of hitting another plane, as long as they stay on course!

I have a dissociation disorder...autopilot is a familiar feeling. It means I'm tired or stressed and need to rethink and redirect my energies. If you feel like you're living your life on autopilot (in a philosophical sense) you need to take stock of what needs changing in your life: health, habits, exercise, job, relationships with others. It can be done.

Right now, definitely. I've made the decisions in my life and I'm talking the actions. But it will be a while before I see outcomes. For now, I just have to sit back and wait for the process to end.

It's frustrating.
