i have a healthy bmi for my weight and height but i definately don't have the body shape?! how does that work?! lol. Im 16 so maybe that has something to do with it but how am i supposed to know what my healthy weight should be if i dont even fit the ones set by doctors? anyone have similar problems to me. btw i dont have eating disorder of anysort and im not imaging the extra weight.

thanks everyone i checked my body fat percentage and its 34% which is high. obv not good now i need to lower it lol next problem.

You need to have your body fat percentage checked. You can have a totally healthy BMI and still have too much body fat, as BMI does not take into account bone structure. Your body fat should be under 30% to be considered healthy and ideally below 25% would be excellent. You also need to look at your waist measurement, it should not be more than 32 inches, or you may be at an increased risk of heart disease/diabetes later on. I think a waist measurement of 28 inches or less would be ideal IMO. And if you store most of your fat around your hips, this is considered very healthy. HTH : )

I'd say that even tho' your BMI is normal, the fact that you collect fat deposits where you do, you are at risk for heart disease and diabetes as you age. Suggest strongly that you start exercising on a daily basis, consult a trainer for those exercises that would benefit you most, one can usually be found in any gym.

your physique mass index is 21 so your height/weight ratio is sweet: BMI categories: Underweight = <18.5 commonplace weight = 18.5-24.9 obese = 25-29.9 weight problems = BMI of 30 or greater desirable
