You can try Carnival if you want to see humans in their worst form. I was on a Carnival cruise once and it was the single most disgusting thing I have ever seen. People vomiting all over themselves and others and passing out on the decks. Little kids wandering around that have gotten into some kind of crap and their parents are too drunk to even recognize them, let alone clean them up. It is a party ship and very gross. Royal Caribbean is nice, but you have to eat at a certain time and a certain place. I would recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines because you can eat when you want and with whom you want. They are still very nice ships. They just make cruising so much more fun. You don't have to hurry back to the ship to make it to dinner, you aren't put on a strict schedule...it is just a more relaxing cruise.

I prefer Royal Caribbean. There is a party atmosphere but it does not get out of hand like on Carnival. In the long run they also have an excellent loyalty program. It is not much the first few cruises but after 5 it get very good and at higher levels it gets even better.
You can also get lots of information at a cruise line board such as Cruiselinefans

They are quite similar in one way but very different in other ways. You will generally find a younger passenger on Carnival then you will find on Royal Caribbean and Carnival is a more relaxed then RCCL.
I have been on both and I do prefer Royal Caribbean but it is down to taste, you could try as another Answerer have suggest Norwegian Cruise Lines.
I have attached links to cruise review forums for you to look at.

See if you can book the new Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas ship for its Western Caribbean itinerary. WE just did that one and it was great. RC is a much better cruise line than Carnival and the new RC ship is geared to young folks and people with kids. It has some fantastic activities on ship and the port stops, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay and its private island, Labadee, are great Labidee is the best private island I have ever been to.

Norwegian Cruise Lines!!! NCL is fantastic. I've been on two cruises with them, one on a standard 7 day western Caribbean and a 12 day to Central America. They were awesome. I have a 7 day exotic western Caribbean cruise booked for next month. You can get some killer deals too. I actually had the best luck booking through NCL direct instead of a travel agent. They have so many options for locations, ports of departure, length of cruises, and ports of call. Give them a shot!

First off understand that unless you are both over 21 or if one is under 21 then the other must be 25 or older, you are not going to cruise with just each other. They just do not allow it. Both ships would probably fit your bill as far as entertainment goes but Carnival might be a bit better.

Norwegian. Just got back last week from a 7 day Caribbean cruise where we relaxed, enjoyed excellent food at our leisure and were pampered in every way. At one port we were docked across a pier from a RCCL ship and the passengers were lined up on the deck of the RCCL ship to listen and dance to the band that was on the deck of our NCL ship.

RC is a classier cruise line with a better clientel. I've had terrible experiences with Carnival and would be very very unlikely to ever take another cruise with them. Too many trashy people pretending to be on Jerry Springer. Not really my scene.
