I think it's a pretty decent area, but your commute will be a total nightmare if you work in the city. Definetely do your research before moving. Check out county, city and state government websites and census statistics so that you know exactly what you're getting into.

Lawrenceville is in the boonies, if you intend to work downtown ATL. It seems like there are a lot of drug crimes up in Gwinnett county. But, truth be told I really can't stand Atlanta or it's surrounding cities/towns. Traffic bites, the weather can't make up it's mind, finding employment is solely based on "who ya know," crunk music is in an overwhelmingly abundant rotation, folks in government aren't the brightest bulbs, good luck finding booze on Sunday, or Any holiday, even the free stuff has a price, and the educational system is dismal at best." Otherwise, it's ok, if you don't mind traveling 10 years back in time. When my lease is up, we're on the next moving truck back to this century. Good luck!

East of Atlanta off I-85, but still considered Metro Atanta. Close to Mall of Georgia and Lake Lanier. Close enough to Atanta to enjoy emenities of Atlanta. Depending on work, the commute will not be pleasant.
