How do you value importance within your own life? Do you ever feel irrelevant and non-important?

I value importance within my own life by how happy I am. If I am happy (or content is probably the better word) then I feel worth.

Feeling irrelevant or un-important would be judging yourself according to societies standards. I think everyone has felt un-important at a time in their life (at least once), the thing to remember is that you are who you are for a reason. It is not about being important, it is about being happy with who you are. I dont value status upon myself or anyone else. Everyone is who they are. Placing me under someone else would be comparing me to them, which is impossible because I am different then them.

(IE, if we were all famous no famous people would be seen as important, or if we were all CEO's, etc)

I never feel irrelevant - irreverent, frequently.

Honestly, my relevance isn't something I think much about, nor do spend any time wondering how important or unimportant I am.

I just am.

Sometimes I have what some folks call a moment of feeling "small" in the universe, but that doesn't bother me, because I don't expect to be "big".


I'm purely happy to be a part of it. It's what's here. It's what we've got.

Actually I find my own lack of importance to be a relief. Whenever a person is "important" they tend to take on a lot of responsibilities that will feed that sense of importance and make them get a lot of attention from others. I find that this sort of thing doesn't work for me, I tend to get it in the neck if I don't do the way those others say do, and this robs my inner peace. So I stay in the background and do things as I can. Yes, I contribute where I can, help others and try to put the "human" back in being, but I don't do things for the kudos. This gives me time to develop as a person and take things as they come. Stress-free is good.

Do you mean value the importance of my own life. My life is just as important as the lives of anyone else. My death will probably be important too. All things serve a purpose and will be part of the story in the end.

I'm completely irrelevant and of no importance. I place no value upon me at all. I place value on my Girlfriend and the Love we share, that's relevant and important to me. Oh and the dog is important too (She's a basset hound and really sweet!) and very muched loved by us both. Everything else in our life is thousandary to these things. I guess I have a different way of feeling than most, I am in myself not that important, but to my family and friends I am a woman so big, you see I see them as very important people, I see the things that they need as very important and I listen to each of them as if they are the most important thing in the world and it comes back to me double, I still believe what goes around comes around. I treat them as I would like to be treated from the heart and it is wonderful.

I really like the person that I am. I really care about people and I'm careful to treat people the way I want to be treated. As far as not feeling relevant or important....well I have a 9 year old son!! There is no chance of me feeling that way as a busy single mother! :)

my importance is enhanced by those i surround myself with. i value those closest to me greatly. the fact they want to be close to me too must say a lot about my character. at times, we all feel unimportant and irrelevant. it is in those times, we should turn to those we love to be reminded of the good people we truly are.
