Here are the recommended ways to get yourself off to sleep each night.
1) Be a bit more active earlier in the day. From late morning to afternoon make sure you get some good exercise outdoors.
2) Set a regular bedtime and stick to it
3) Create a routine that you go through before bed.
4) Don't eat too close to bedtime. Eating kicks off your metabolism and makes your body want to be active.
5) When you go to bed stay there, don't get in and out of bed.
6) A drink of Warm Milk can help. Warming milk makes certain natural chemicals in milk actiate that tend to relax you.
7) Don't go straight from the tv to bed, television tends to activate your mind, as reading can, and it does not allow your mind to slow down and prepare for sleep.
So all up create a bedtime let's say you choose 9pm. Then at 8:30 pm you stop watching television and carry out a whole routine of things such as saying good night to your family, warming some milk to drink, brushing your teeth, and then going to bed and remain there.
It will be a battle at first because we all tend to resist routine but it does work. So at first just go through the routine and accept that you may think it wont work... but at the same time accept that it will.... and keep going through the routine.

You need to get a lot of exercise during the day. At least 2 or 3 hours of walking or biking or something else OUTSIDE. Watching TV, Computer does not count.
No caffeine. Not too much sugar.
Don’t eat anything after 8PM.
Read a book when you want to sleep. After one chapter, Put it down and turn off the light.
It takes 2 to 3 weeks to change a habit. Try it for a month and you will now have a new habit!

I have trouble falling asleep when I'm worried about things. I kow it sounds funny, but when that happens, I get up and do something, because lying in bed isn't going to help, and the harder you TRY to go to sleep, the harder it is to fall asleep. So, I do something else, then maybe I'll read in bed. I've had some nights where I only sleep for the last 2 hours before my alarm goes off, which is awful, but when that happens, I was always reading comic books in bed when I finally fell asleep! I know how awful it is...:(

OK I Once Did Then One Day, I Went Skating All Day, And Fell Fast Asleep. What You Need To Do Is Do More Active Things During The Day, And If It Doesn't Work, See A Doctor

Exercise rigorously after school. By bed time you'll be tired.
You have to expend energy before you'll become tired. You just don't want to exercise too close to bed or you'll be awake due to adrenaline.
