God is a spirit, no physical body, hence, no actual colour.
So man when he was created was to have godlike qualities. Man doesn't live on instinct, as the animals do, but on reason logic and the most prominent feature of God that is love.

All the religious bods who are going to 'meet their maker' should really have an impression of him. However, he is undoubtedly invisible, and wishes not to meet anyone. Nor does he want to be bothered by anyone. Why can't people just leave him alone? He's created the world for them, he's made pretty flowers and everything wonderful - the guy needs a break.

God creates things, iincluding Life,.
Man was made with the ability to create life, (have children.)
It doesn´t mean that Man actually looks like God, as this would be a bit cruel seeing as no one can look at god an live.

i don't know what colour he is, even though plaid was a very funny answer, but i can tell you he is not white, cause white people came about when God turned someones wife into a pillar of salt when he was razing Sodom and Gomorrah to the ground, and cursed her children and her children's children to be the same colour and so on and so forth.so he cannot be a white man cause up until then they did not exist. so, therefore he is a representation of every colour but not white.

In this context 'image' does not mean physical.
However, if you have read the bible, it takes place in the middle east....so I am guessing Adam and Eve were dark in color. How did caucasions come about? Theories---leprosy. In the bible, leprosy was a curse that caused the skin to turn white (not fall off like some think of leprosy in today's standards). It states that Jesus fit in among the commoners. If he was white with blue eyes, how do you suppose he would 'fit in' with middle easterners?

Well considering that we humans only see light within a small fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum i would say that our colour really isn't that important as our skin probably reflects rays of many other wavelengths. If you want to point out our hue as our distinguishing factor you must be a pretty petty person.

God is pure spirit - absolute being - beyond any physical parameters whatsoever.
To be made in His image does not mean that we physically look like Him, but that we have the attributes of intellect and free will as He does.
With that, we have a spiritual nature that allows a fellowship with Him that animals cannot have.

God is energy. God is not a sentient being. God has not form. We can not grasp what God is, it just is. Jesus however was supposed to walked the earth. Jesus is all races. The bible says he has golden skin and hair like a wool. Sounds like a mixed man to me.

I don't think that the scripture refers to physical image.. I believe it's in his likeness of ability to make decisions regarding problem solving and think outside of animalistic characteristics...
Or I'm going to go ahead and agree with the 'plaid' answer.
