I got my pups to stop doing that...it's easy...when he attempts it...ignore him (by not speaking), then turn around and face him, then make him sit or do something else...but first you must be firm and tell him NO...eventually he WILL stop...don't listen to what others say...if you trained your dog correctly...he will do what you ask of him.

That's a tough one!! My dog sometimes does that and she's a 2 yr old female. It depends on how bad it is! My baby only does it for two seconds and I'll have to do is tell her no and she stops. If he does it for long times or doesn't give up I would suggest trying one of two things. Either get a squirt bottle with water in it and when he starts humping squirt him...once and tell him no. With some dogs that works and with some they think it's a game! The other thing I can suggest is if you use a crate try locking him up for a little bit when he starts it...5 to 10 min should be enough. Normally by than he should have calmed down and can come out again to play. Hope that helps! Also sometimes this is just a stage they go through because they are young and they grow out of after a while!! Was he fixed just recently? That could have something to do with it to!

Some dogs humping is a way of showing dominance. I have a female who does it on occasion to show the other dog that she is in control. I don't encorage it and will allow her only to do it once per dog, then tell her to stop. She is an older dog and know when I say stop, to stop.
I would definitely train your dog. Get him to sit or lie down. he can't do both things at the same time. Good luck

I think it is just a natural thing while the dog is young or maybe just the whole life. My cousins dog once chased me around the house for two hours, and if i hid tracked me down and humped me. therefore it is pretty hard to stop them.

I additionally had a Rottie woman that use to enhance her leg to pee, mark her territory each and every 2 ft and hump different canines. She became purely exhibiting she became the boss.

That's normal, although like you say embarrassing. My daughter has two boxers, both females, both fixed, so tell me, why does her female hump the other female? Not being of the same litter. He is still young, so he may even grow out of it.
