Story of Jonah......
What a guy....
Didn't want the job.... Tried to escape.....
God caught up with him in a storm and he finally relented to the men on the boat that he is the reason for the storm.......
Whale swallows Jonah.....
Delivers a short little message to the "villagers" of whom everyone repents unto God.......
He sits back and waits for the fireworks..... which never come...
Then, he gets mad at God because God wont do anything about these people he hates so much......
God tries to get him to understand that the people have done exactly what was needed to be spared.....
But, he is relentless in his rejection of these people.....
In the heat of the day, a leaf grows and shields him from the sun, then a worm comes and eats the leaf to death.....
He now has something else to feel upset about.......
It ends with him being upset about the whole ordeal.....
Very interesting story.....
Your sister,
Ginger

The negative impact of Christianity on society has soured me to most of the Bible stories. I don't really have a favorite. There are a few ideas from the Bible that I like, such as the Golden Rule. Though that idea seems to be a fairly universal ideal, not limited to Christianity.

God is such a merry prankster...*sigh* nothing like unconditional love to start the day...
Exodus 11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel
Some of the wars are pretty sweet too and really show god's love for his creation:
Deut 20:16-17 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

We're studying the OT in Sunday School, and this week I think it's on Daniel and Esther. Both are GREAT stories. But I have to say the whole story about Rebeckah is among my favorite OT stories.

Genesis 5:21-24
21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.
It's my favorite because this is how I want to live my life - Enoch had so much love and faith in God, that he walked with God to the extent that God allowed him to go be with Him. It's only 1 of 2 times recorded in the Bible that a person of God did not die but was taken directly into heaven.

Lots of good ones. I love when Jehovah parted the sea at the Exodus. Amazes me that the Israelites could ever have whined about walking in the wilderness after such a display of power...but that's imperfection for ya.

The book of Tobit.
It is part of what Protestants call "Apocrypha," but which is recognized as valid Scripture by Catholics.
The Book of Tobit (description with links to book at bottom).

I am so glad you asked, and I hope I get brownie points for this one LOL. My favorite Bible story is when Jesus shed His Blood for me and showed His love by dying on the cross for my sins just to show how much He loved and cared for me. He didn't have to do it... But He Did!!!!
