most divorces come from religous marriages, but thats cuz most marriages are religous ones, see so it dont really matter, the religion isnt going to keep you together

Technically it can't. A wedding is about the joining of the hearts and souls, not about religion in the truest sense. The only way for such a couple to be split up is if they were having problems discerning the wedding arrangements because of the nonreligion and also because the couple were having problems before putting the wedding together.

The commitment a man has to his wife and vice versa is not based on religion, it's to do with love and compromise. Should a couple find they are having difficulties whether they are atheist or religious, they always have the choice of going to counselling.

If one partner was religious and other wasn't, and they opted for a neutral wedding, I can see how the religous differences between them might eventually lead them to divorce.

I don't think it matters a bit. For the person who said they'd have no premarital counseling to fall back on - do you think churches are the only places that have counselors???

The couple would not have any pre-marital counseling to fall back on, nor would they have a relationship with anyone in
a church to help them through difficult times.
